Almost 80 years ago, more precisely in 1945, right after the end of World War II, Ibrahim Sursock founded The National Trading Corporation s.a.l. The vision was for The National Trading Corporation s.a.l (NTC) to represent and distribute in the Middle East the best technologies in the US industry. Naturally, Carrier air conditioning and Otis Elevator Company were among the first representations of NTC. Ibrahim Sursock’s personal friendships especially with the King of Saudi Arabia helped promote and establish those brands in the Middle East. In addition to that, NTC was also in the automotive and insurance sectors.
30 years of great success followed the inception of NTC and Carrier became the synonym of air conditioning in every Arab country.
In 1969, Otis Elevator Company s.a.l was founded by presidential decree and no longer part of NTC.
In 1976, following the Lebanese civil war, NTC Lebanon and Jordan were acquired by Mr. Richard Abdeni and Rizk Rizk. Both later (in 1986) partnered with Otis Elevator Company worldwide in both countries to form a successful and strong joint venture. This joint venture has beautifully survived the test of time and almost 60 years later is still strongly implemented in Lebanon and Jordan.
The group of companies is still managed by the heirs with Philippe Abdeni managing the companies and the daughters of Rizk Rizk (Zeina and Youmna) on the Board of Directors.
